A group of passers-by stop to watch as artist Katie Fogg works on a commissioned streetscape painting along the one-way section of Bank Street Wednesday in New London. The painting is one of several new commissions that Fogg, who is working on her MFA at the New York Academy of Art, has recently taken for New London scenes. Fogg was a contributor to the "One City Many Cultures" mural painted in New London last summer.

Were you surprised to learn about New London's sharp police decline?
Yes. I had no idea the New London police force has shrunk by nearly 30 percent since 2011.
No. I was aware of the sharp decline.
I knew some New London police officers had left the force for other police departments but the number surprised me.
I'm not concerned. I thought the number of police officers for the town the size of New London was too high anyway.
