Groton school board down to two superintendent finalists

Groton — The Board of Education has narrowed its finalists for the superintendent’s job from three people to two and will schedule an additional round of interviews, board Chairwoman Kirsten Hoyt said Friday.

The board interviewed three finalists earlier this week: Michael Graner, the superintendent in Ledyard; Denise L. Clemons, the recently hired assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in Groton; and Robert J. Angeli, the associate superintendent for instruction in Meriden Public Schools.

The finalists also met with members of the community, who offered their thoughts, school board member Chaz Zezulka said.

Hoyt said the board decided to interview two finalists a second time but have not scheduled the interviews yet. She declined to name the candidates as they have not yet been told, she said.
