Hospitals, physicians forging agreements with Access Health CT

All the hospitals in the Connecticut Hospital Association, including Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London and The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, are finalizing agreements with the health insurance plans that will be offered through the Access Health CT online marketplace set to go live today, the association announced Monday.

Anthem, Healthy CT and Connecticut Care will offer plans for individuals, couples and families through the marketplace at the bronze, silver and gold levels.

The association said it strongly supports increasing access to coverage through federal health care reform.

"Expanded access to coverage is great for patients," said Jennifer Jackson, president and chief executive offer of the association. "Hospitals are delighted to work with Access Health CT to help ensure coverage for all Connecticut residents."

Hospital-affiliated physician groups are also signing agreements to accept the three insurance plans, the association said.
