Stonington – Touchdown runs by Zach Poirier (7 yards) and Harry Calmar (15) helped rally Stonington to a 33-28 victory over Westerly in their annual Thanksgiving Day game.

The scores came after Ryan Young recovered a fumble in the end zone to give Westerly a 22-19 lead early in the third quarter.

Despite the win, Stonington was unofficially eliminated from Class M playoff consideration when Quinebaug Valley defeated Killingly 14-6 to earn the eighth and final spot.

Trailing 19-6 late in the first half, Jaycee Hamelin returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown to pull Westerly with 19-14. Hamelin's return came moments after Divante White's 23-yard touchdown pass to Calmar had given Stonington a 19-6 lead.

Calmar ran seven yards for a TD earlier in the second to break a 6-6 tie, he first of his three touchdowns.

Matt Mitchell's 17-yard touchdown run just 50 seconds into the game gave Stonington a 6-0 lead.
