Yes, two of the games are rematches. Ansonia stuffed the Hawks, 48-7, in the NVL Championship game on Nov. 20).

Darien rallied to beat the Rams, 28-24, on Thanksgrabbing Day.

Alex Jamele caught two touchdowns to set the single-season state record (26) for the Blue Knights (11-1). Jamele had six catches for 79 yards and also scored on a 40-yard interception return. The Tigers (10-3) only managed 46 yards on 24 pass attempts. Nicholas Crowle ran for a game-winning 28-yard touchdown with 3 minutes, 53 seconds left in the game. Colton Smith ran 20 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns and completed 9 of 19 passes for 74 yards for the Jesuits (11-2). No. 1 Darien 13, No. 4 Middletown 7

Silas Wyper completed 11 of 25 passes for 127 yards with two touchdowns for the Blue Wave (12-1). Dario Highsmith ran 35 times for 178 yards and a touchdown for the Blue Dragons (11-2). Nick Cascione completed 8 of 18 passes for 205 yards with a touchdown and ran 14 times for 76 yards for the Rams (13-1). Michael Halloran ran 11 times for 86 yards for North Haven (10-3). Bobby Drysdale ran for a 5-yard touchdown to give Brookfield its first and only lead with 1:08 left in the game. Drysdale ran 15 times for 88 yards for the Bobcats (11-3). Phil Cohen completed 10 of 18 passes for 103 yards with a touchdown for the Warriors (12-1). Shane Miller ran six times for 190 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 28-yard touchdown for the Cadets (12-2). St. Joseph lost star tailback Mufasha Abdul Basir on the game's third play after taking a shot to the helmet and left the game in an ambulance. He later returned to the sidelines. Cadets' coach Joe DellaVecchia told Doug Bonjour of Hearst Inc. that Abdul Basir had a stinger. Jack Shaban ran 26 times for 153 yards and scored on a 75-kickoff return for the Falcons (10-3). Arkeel Newsome ran 36 times for 269 yards and five touchdowns for the Chargers (14-0), the top-ranked team in The Day of New London Top 10 state coaches' poll. Chris Young ran 20 times for 137 yards and two touchdowns for the Terriers (11-2). Rocky Hill coach Harry Coyne announced after Saturday's loss that he's retiring after being the only coach in the program's 14-year history. Coyne led the Terriers to the playoffs five times. He also did a dang fine job getting his kids to run GOD'S OFFENSE so well.

So we blogged yesterday morning that five players rushed for 2,000-or-more yards this fall.

Two astute readers pointed out that we were WRONG.

Yes, we screwed up and forgot to mention Montville senior Jeremiah Crowley, who unofficially ran for 2,139 yards. We write "unofficially" as we were unable to procure team stats and instead are going with the figure printed in TEAM DAY's final 'Ville game story of the year.

Crowley ran for a single-game state record of 526 yards with seven touchdowns in a 49-37 win over Stonington on Sept. 27.

As for how we forgot Crowley, mistakes happen, especially when writes until 6 a.m. Working the graveyard shift often causes the brain to go in-and-out.

Hell, even during daytime hours, Polecat Worldwide staffers will regularly forget where they parked their car, if they cashed their last paycheck so that the rent check doesn't bounce (again), their respective names, etc.

Back on point — Drysdale (Brookfield) also cleared 2,000 yards yesterday after adding rushing totals reported by reliable scribes to the totals his team posted at MaxPreps.com prior to Saturday's quarterfinals.
