    H.S. Basketball Roundup: McCarvell leads Whalers to victory

    New London — Deanna McCarvell finished with 18 points and Charee Osborne 15 points and 14 rebounds Friday as the New London High School girls' basketball team won a matchup between unbeaten teams in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division, beating Montville 64-50.

    Lexus Childs-Harris had 14 points for New London (7-1, 4-0), going 11-for-16 from the free throw line. Jada Lucas added 12 points and five steals.

    Jamie Hill scored 32 points for Montville (5-5, 3-1).

    New London led 22-16 at halftime and 41-33 after three quarters.

    In other games:

    • Fitch won its first game of the season, defeating Windham 55-35. Mackenzie Aldridge led the Falcons (1-7) with 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals while Jackie Lewis had 13 points and six rebounds and Brianna Robinson added 10 points.

    • Kelley Dugan scored 17 as Waterford defeated Killingly 64-48 in the ECC Medium Division. Kazi Walker had 11 points for Waterford (4-5, 2-2). Killingly is 1-8, 0-4.

    • Taty Lafrance-Boyce's 22 points and 15 rebounds helped Stonington defeat Plainfield 58-40 in the ECC Medium Division. Margot Calmar had 16 points and 18 rebounds for the Bears (7-2, 2-2).

    • Caitlyn Dittman had 14 points and 10 rebounds as St. Bernard defeated Woodstock Academy 49-32. Casey Sullivan had 13 points for the Saints (6-1).

    • Hannah Behringer had 16 points as Old Lyme downed Portland, 59-26, in the Shoreline Conference. Hannah O'Brien and Abby Stone each scored 13 for Old Lyme (3-4).

    • Marion Philippe had five points, nine rebounds and two blocks in the Williams School's 34-11 loss to Bancroft School. The Blues fell to 1-4.

    • Connor Sulik scored 10 points in Norwich Tech's 39-27 loss to Vinal Tech. The Warriors are 2-5.

    • Tabitha Ford scored eight points in Grasso Tech's 54-14 loss to Bullard Havens.

    Boys

    • Adam Converse had 18 points to lead Woodstock Academy past St. Bernard 71-54. James Foti had 13 points for St. Bernard (5-2) and Remy Bonser scored 11.

    • Willie Harris had 33 points, 20 rebounds and three blocks as Fitch defeated Windham 70-43. Davonte Anderson had 16 points and 16 rebounds for the Falcons (3-4).

    • Nabate Metts scored 20 points and C.J. Parker added 16 as New London defeated Montville 103-62 in the ECC Medium Division. Josh Maynard had 14 for the Whalers (5-1, 3-0). Buddy Dewaine had 28 for Montville (1-7, 0-2).

    • Divante White had 12 points and 20 rebounds for Stonington in a 76-52 loss to Plainfield in the ECC Medium. Matt Donahue added 16 points and Riley Sorrento 14 for Stonington (1-7, 0-3), which was outscored 26-10 in the second quarter.

    • Kaevon Safford scored 17 to lead Tourtellotte past East Lyme, 52-44. Jack Powers had 17 points for East Lyme (2-6).

    • Damon Vega scored 25 as Windham Tech beat Wheeler 77-73. Troy Stefanski had 21 points and Jacob Raggon scored 18 for Wheeler (1-6). Mike Dellaporta added 17 points.

    • St. Andrew's led 51-7 at halftime and went on to beat Williams School 80-25. Sotiraq Vangjeli led Williams with eight points.

    • Mike Froscello scored 17 points and Mack Osias added 16 in Norwich Tech's 61-51 loss to Vinal Tech. The Warriors are 2-4.
