Sun’s Griffin has her number retired at Nebraska
Current Connecticut Sun and former Nebraska player Kelsey Griffin had her No. 23 jersey retired before Wednesday night's game against Michigan at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.
Griffin was an All-American and Big 12 player of the year in 2010. The Eagle River, Alaska, native joins Karen Jennings and Maurtice Ivy in having her jersey retired.
Current Nebraska player Jordan Hooper went into the game against the Wolverines needing five points to catch Griffin on the school's all-time scoring list. Hooper also needs 10 rebounds to join Griffin and Jennings as the only players in program history with 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
