To the Sports Editor:

Thanks to Mike DiMauro for expressing what many us feel about the retirment of Kris Dunn's number in a column that appeared in The Day on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Unfortunately Dunn has become, through no fault of his own, the center of the controversy.

For many of us this number retirement upsets a time-honored tradition in which you respectfully waited your turn and icons of the past were honored before the current phenom.

For me the issue reflects the present times where instant gratification is the norm and one has to be entertained constantly. This format leaves little room for reverence to the past and the relevence of history.

Today's world feels upside down and it is disconcerting.
