Coast Guard’s Richardson named national Div. III player of the week
Coast Guard's Jessie Richardson was selected as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Player of the Week.
Richardson, a junior catcher, batted .720 (18-for-25) with 10 runs scored, three doubles, a triple, 10 runs batted in was perfect in her four stolen base attempts.
During the eight games she had a stretch where she was 16-for-17 with seven RBI and threw out two potential base stealers.
She currently leads the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference in 10 offensive categories including hits (21), doubles (5), triples (2), RBI (17) and batting average (.677). Coast Guard is 6-4. The award is selected by eight NCAA Division III head coaches representing the eight NCAA regions.
