Norwich — The Memorial Day Committee for American Legion Post 104 asks residents with information about Army Private Michael J. Murphy or his family to contact the committee.

Each year the ceremony honors a Taftville resident who died during wartime. This year’s honored veteran is Murphy, a Taftville resident who died Oct. 15, 1918 in Greenleaf, Ga. Murphy, the son of Dennis and Mary Murphy of 24 South A St. in Taftville, was born June 2, 1897 in Norwich. He worked for his father at the Taftville Post Office.
