Sun trade Gruda for first-round pick

The Connecticut Sun finished March by making another deal as it traded French forward Sandrine Gruda to the Los Angeles Sparks for the latter's first-round pick (11th overall) in this month's draft and a 2015 second-round pick.

Connecticut already owned the rights to the top pick. It'll play host to the draft on April 14.

Gruda was drafted with the 13th overall pick in the 2007 draft. She played in 85 games from 2008-10.

"At a certain point, we owe it to our fans to bring players to Connecticut who want to be here and contribute to a championship each year," Sun vice president and general manager Chris Sienko said in a statement.

The Sun acquired guard Alex Bentley from Washington in exchange for guard Kara Lawson earlier in March. They also signed free agent guard Katie Douglas to a two-year deal last week.
