    Local Roundup: Dodd Stadium Classic begins today

    Norwich - The inaugural Dodd Stadium College Baseball Classic begins today and features UConn, Stony Brook and Bryant, all three teams having won NCAA tournament games over the course of the last two seasons.

    Bryant and UConn play at 3 p.m. today. On Saturday, Stony Brook and Bryant play at noon and Stony Brook and UConn play at 4 p.m. On Sunday, Bryant and Stony Brook play at noon and Bryant and UConn play at 4 p.m.

    Gates will open one hour prior to the start time of the day's first game. Tickets are available at the Dodd Stadium box office or online at www.cttigers.com.

    Tickets are available on a "day ticket" basis or an "all-session ticket" basis. A day ticket grants the holder access to all games held on a specific day, while the all-session ticket grants entrance to the entire weekend schedule. Pricing is as follows: adult day ticket, $10; adult all-session ticket, $25; student/child/senior day ticket, $7; student/child/senior all-session ticket, $17; groups of 10 or more day ticket, $5 per ticket.

    H.S. sailing

    • Williams School opened its season with a loss to host Branford. Skippers for the Blues were Doug Hamilton, Russ Parker, Christine Gelotte, Annie Longo and Sophie Bullinger.

    Women's lacrosse

    • Wheelock took a 19-4 halftime lead and went on to beat Mitchell College 25-4 in the New England Collegiate Conference. Katie Gavin scored eight goals and Old Lyme's Emma Marrs had a goal and an assist for Wheelock (1-3, 1-0). Ashley Murtha had three goals and Amanda Rowan also scored for Mitchell (1-4, 1-2).

    Men's tennis

    • Trinity beat Connecticut College 8-1 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference match Wednesday. JC Cangelosi won at No. 2 singles for the Camels (4-3, 0-2).
