    Jeff Foxworthy plays Mohegan Sun

If you win the lottery, it's pure luck.

So it's not fair to suggest that comic Jeff Foxworthy won the lottery when he came up with one alchemical premise: "You might be a redneck if ..."

After all, he DID come up with it - and good for him.

Let's face it, the premise is pretty stinkin' funny - and I speak from the heart and liver. Plenty of those jokes make me laugh because I've lived them.

At the same time, I'm just sort of sad that it's like a faucet that we can't turn off. It's not Foxworthy's fault that the whole Redneck Thing has begat an endless recycling of Redneckery. And he'd be a moron if he didn't capitalize on it all, which is why, in addition to his standup, Foxworthy has scored gigs in television, film, voice-over work, and so on. These include hosting such shows as "The American Baking Challenge" and "The American Bible Challenge," both of which are, in terms of consumer patience, perhaps pushing it?

Anyway, Foxworthy's wit resonates with a huge audience, and his standup work remains pretty stellar. See him onstage on Saturday in the Mohegan Sun Arena.
