St. Paul, Minn. - Nicky Jasbon of Connecticut College picked up most valuable player honors for the second straight year as the Camels repeated as Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III champions with a 7-3 win over Washington & Jefferson College Sunday.

The Camels earn an automatic berth to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship April 25-27 at Bucknell University.

Kate Jacobson and Jasbon had two goals each and Isabelle Baneux, Kelsey Millward and Sam Pierce also scored for Conn.

• Mitchell College scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning and went on to beat Becker 7-5 and sweep a New England Collegiate Conference doubleheader. Mitchell (8-14, 5-3) won the opener 3-0 behind Brittany Fiederlein's seven-hitter. Lindsey Romagnino homered and had a two-run double in the opener, and Fiederlein (8-6) struck out one with no walks and won the second game with two innings of hitless relief.

In the second game, Jenny Groman scored on a fielder's choice in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 5-5, and former St. Bernard standout Rivkah Berkman singled home a run and Groman added a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Berkman was 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs and Romagnino was 3-for-5 with two doubles.

Baseball

• Ken Olszewski drove in four runs and Evan Peck had three RBI as Mitchell beat Daniel Webster, 14-10, in the NECC. Waterford's Gavin LaLima and Marc Dorsi had three hits each and LaLima added two RBI and two runs for Mitchell (13-10-1, 7-5).

• Baylor LaPointe allowed four hits over seven innings as UConn-Avery Point completed a three-game weekend sweep with a 7-0 win over Dean in a NJCAA Region 21 game. LaPointe (4-0) struck out seven and walked one and Kevin Lacy allowed one hit over the last two innings, striking out five. Nick Perrelli had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs, Stonington's Connor Buckley had two hits, and Alex LaFevre got the Pointers (25-6, 6-1) started with a two-run single in the first inning.

• Bobby Melley was 3-for-5 as UConn collected 15 hits en route to a 14-3 win over Cincinnati in the American Athletic Conference. Bryan Daniello and Melley drove in three runs each and Blake Davey hit his seventh homer of the season for UConn (17-17, 4-4).

College sailing

• The Conn College coed team came in fourth out of 17 teams at the Owen, Mosbacher and Knapp Trophy Regatta hosted by Yale University. Skipper Kevin Martland and crew Lea Bushnell were third in the A Division, and IG Schottlaender and Kim Bolick were fourth in the B Division. The Camels were also 14th out of 18 teams at the Thompson Trophy Regatta on the Thames River.

Women's tennis

• Monica Rohrbach and Jillian Brigandi won singles matches and combined for a doubles win as Conn College beat Roger Williams 7-2. Charlotte Marcoux also won her match and teamed with Ellie Rudd for a doubles win, and Adrienne Sieverding and Aneeka Kalia won singles matches for Conn (3-8).

Men's tennis

• Josh Suneby, JC Cangelosi, Jonathan Kraiger and Jonathan Deeter won singles matches and teamed for doubles wins as Conn College beat Roger Williams 9-0. Jonathan Sokolsky and Will Tucker also won matches for Conn (5-5) as did the doubles team of Daniel Maffa and Doug Butturini.

H.S. sailing

• Williams School came in fourth Saturday on Wononskopomuc Lake in Lakeville, falling to Portsmouth Abbey, Hotchkiss and Duxbury, Mass.

H.S. girls' track

• Kiah Strickland of Montville won the 100-meter high hurdles and the javelin Saturday in the Bellringer Invitational at East Hampton. Strickland had a time of 17.26 in the hurdles and won the javelin with a throw of 106-10. Teammate Maddy Campbell was second in the triple jump and Mel Huang (triple jump) and Caitlin Turney (300 hurdles) had third-place finishes.

Turney, Abby Baukus, Suzie Fitzgerald and Hannah Marchini were third in the 4x800 and Campbell, Marchini, Baukus and Turney were third in the 4x400.
