Conn, Coast Guard to compete in national sailing regatta

The Connecticut College and Coast Guard Academy coed sailing teams will compete in the 79th Annual Intercollegiate Sailing Association/Gill National Dinghy Championships this week in St. Mary's, Md.

The teams will begin competition today, racing in the semifinals. The top nine finishers out of each of the two semifinals will advance to the finals, which are set for Thursday and Friday.

A champion will be crowned on Friday.

No. 16 Conn qualified by placing eighth in the Coast Guard Bowl/New England Dinghy Championship in late April. Kevin Martland, Lea Bushnell and Ellis Tonissi raced for Conn in the A Division while I.G. Schottlaender, Kim Bolick, Grace Medley, Bryce Kopp and Benjamin Meyers competed in the B Division.

Martland and Bushnell made the All-New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association second team.
