    CGA ninth, Conn 16th at sailing nationals

    Coast Guard Academy is ninth and Connecticut College is tied for 16th after the opening day of the 79th annual Intercollegiate Sailing Association National Dinghy Championship in St. Mary's City, Md.

    Yale has 87 points and will take a commanding lead into today's final day of racing. Tufts is a distant second with 135 while Coast Guard has 174 points and Conn has 228 and is tied with Wisconsin.

    For Coast Guard, Avery Fanning, Robert Turley and Jaimie Chicoine were 14th in the A division with 99 points while Nikole Barnes and Justine Morrison were an impressive third in the B division with 75 points.

    I.G. Schottlaender, Bryce Kopp, Benjamin Meyers, Kim Bolick and David Rex helped the Camels placed 14th in the B division with 116 points while Kevin Martland, Jordan Bothwick, Lea Bushnell and Grace Medley scored 112 points good for 17th in the A divison.
