    Tigers rout Spinners 12-4

    Second baseman Domingo Leyba went 4-for-5, including a two-run home run in the second inning, as the Connecticut Tigers rolled to a 12-4 road victory over the Lowell Spinners in a New York-Penn League baseball game on Tuesday night.

    Leyba is 8-for-15 in his last three games for the Tigers (5-7), who begin a five-game homestand at 7 tonight against the Vermont Lake Monsters at Dodd Stadium.

    Michael Gerber also contributed to Connecticut's 14-hit attack with two hits, including a solo homer in the seventh, while Will Maddox went 2-for-5.

    Right hander Fernando Perez pitched 5 2/3 innings for his first win of the season. He allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and struck out seven. Micah Kellog pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his first save of the season. He gave up two hits and struck out three.
