Lyme Public Hall opens exhibit on local cemeteries

In terms of malevolent spirits, Stephen King's "Pet Sematary" and the film "Poltergeist" have rendered the idea of graveyards more sinister than ever. Fortunately, we can dial back the hysteria a bit with "Lyme's Ancient Burying Grounds," a new exhibit on display Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Lyme Public Hall. The show is part of a year-long initiative to highlight the historical value and preservation needs of Lyme's oldest cemeteries, and much of the research and photography will become part of the Lyme Local History Archives. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday and 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and admission is free. The Lyme Public Hall is located at 249 Hamburg Road. For more information access lymepublichall.org.
