Severe thunderstorm watch issued for northern New London County

The National Weather Service Wednesday evening issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Middlesex County, the northwestern portion of New London County and eastern New Haven County.

The warning is in effect until 9:45 p.m.

The storm is capable of producing hail the size of quarters and damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. At 8:45 p.m., the storm was located near North Branford and moving northeast.
