Maxwell sings at Foxwoods
In the early '90s, as he was establishing himself as a post-soul/R&B singer-songwriter in New York City, Maxwell was described by a writer in Vibe magazine as "the next Prince."
While, in truth, there probably is and never will be "the next Prince," Maxwell has indeed enjoyed a fine multi-platinum career - although the dude is not afraid to take an extended hiatus. For example, there was an eight year gap between his third studio album, "Now," and it's successor, "BLACKsummers'night," and the latter, his most recent CD, came out five years ago.
Nonetheless, Maxwell is back on the road and performs Friday in the Grand Theater at Foxwoods. Expect a litany of favorites including "Sumthin' Sumthin," "Fistful of Tears" and "Don't Say Goodnight" - not to mention possible tasty covers by the likes of Michael Jackson and Kate Bush.
