Stonington — A Pawcatuck man is being held at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center in Montville after being arrested three times in five days for violating protective orders designed to keep him away from a local woman who police described as the mother of his children.

Michael F. Kelleher, 34, of 29 S. Broad St. was arrested twice on July 11. The first time, he was charged with violation of a protective order, third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. After being released on a $20,000 bond and told to stay away from the woman, police said he immediately returned to her house. When they arrived, police said Kelleher tried to run from an officer but was quickly apprehended and charged with violation of a protective order, criminal violation of a restraining order and interfering with an officer. He was again released on a $20,000 bond when he appeared in court.

On Monday night, police said he again went to the woman’s house. He was charged with violation of a protective order. When he appeared again in court, his bond was set at $75,000. He was unable to post bond.

Kelleher has now been arrested five times in a span of 17 days. On June 28, police charged him with threatening, and he was released on a nonsurety bond. Police could not provide details about that arrest on Thursday. On July 10, he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to obey a traffic control signal.

Kelleher is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on July 21.

Kelleher has also been convicted twice in Rhode Island, for drunken driving.
