Events at Norwich Harbor to start earlier to avoid EEE concerns
Norwich — Two events planned for next week at the Howard T. Brown Memorial Park at Norwich Harbor will be moved to earlier start times in response to concerns about mosquitoes carrying the eastern equine encephalitis virus.
Mayor Peter Nystrom announced that the Norwich Rotary’s Cultural Diversity Committee has moved up the annual Celebrity Diversity event on Monday by one hour to run from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and also moved up Tuesday’s Peace Pole Celebration to run from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The state Department of Public Health has sent a notice to the towns and cities in southeastern Connecticut warning residents to be careful of mosquitoes that could be carrying the EEE virus, especially around water.
Uncas Health District will go through Brown Park on Monday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
