Both race for Congress, Mideast War one sided

The Day's article, "Courtney jumps to $1 million fundraising advantage in 2nd District campaign," (July 18), reported that net campaign contributions to U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, outstrip those of his Republican opponent, Lori Hopkins-Cavanagh, by a margin of $1,041,637 to $12,091. This race is shaping up to be almost as overwhelming a mismatch as is the current U.S.-enabled Israeli military machine's latest incursion into the squalid Gaza Strip with its hapless Hamas. As of July 21 approximately 425 Palestinians were dead to 20 Israeli dead.

This latter mismatch sadly occurs at about the same frequency as U.S. congressional house races, i.e. every two years. This is especially tragic for the hundreds of innocent civilians who are killed and maimed in the carnage generated by each iteration of this preventable catastrophe.
