New London - A New London woman upset over the acquittal of the man accused of killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin will host a march Saturday to protest and discuss the verdict.

Diane Fisher, a mother of five adult girls, said she followed the trial and media coverage after the July 13 verdict and felt that something needed to be done.

"I really feel that young people in this community need a way to express themselves," said Fisher. "I just feel for Trayvon's parents, and can't imagine what they must be going through."

Fisher said members of the Moriah Fire Baptized Holiness Church on Moore Avenue will also participate.

The event will start at 4 p.m. at Williams Memorial Park, at the corner of Broad and Hempstead streets, where marchers will walk to the Parade Plaza.

Fisher said the church's men's choir, Brothers of Love, will sing. She also said that people will be given an opportunity to speak and share their thoughts on the Martin case.

"It was just so upsetting, and I know a lot of kids who don't feel safe because of what happened to Trayvon," Fisher said.

George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, shot and killed Martin after a confrontation in a Sanford, Fla., neighborhood in February 2012, was found not guilty of murder.
