New London — The City Council tonight renewed a contract with its longtime waterfront coordinator and named her dock master for half of 2012 to oversee about 40 moorings off Waterfront Park.

In the new position as dock master, Barbara Neff will be charged with scheduling and encouraging ship visits, collecting fees for moorings, overseeing water taxi service and coordinating with the New London Port Authority. She will be paid $1,500 for six months.

As waterfront coordinator, a position she has held since 2006, Neff will plan and coordinate six events at Waterfront Park, including one involving fireworks. She will be paid $24,000 for her work and will have a $20,000 budget to work with.
