    Norwich Rec Runs 50th season - Thursdays through Aug. 28, Mohegan Park Center, Norwich, open to ages 6 and over. Schedule is as follows: 6:15 p.m., group stretching and warmup; 6:30 p.m., 1/2-mile run; 6:45 p.m., 1-mile run; 7 p.m., 3-mile run (timed).     "Proud to Tri" Youth Triathlon - Saturday, Aug. 2, Waterford Beach Park, Waterford, beginning at 8 a.m., open to ages 5-17. Register at www.newlondonrec.com, the New London Recreation Department or at the Waterford Recreation and Parks office. Swim will take place in the ocean water where children can touch. Running and biking in the park for all ages up to 10 years old. Training wheels allowed as well as certified life jackets. Children 11-17 will bike out on the road for a short distance supervised by Waterford Police and volunteers. Children will be separated by age groups: 5-6 year olds will swim 25 yards, bike .7 miles, and run .37 miles; ages 7-8 and 9-10 will swim 50 yards, bike 1.4 miles, and run .5 miles; ages 11-13 and 14-17 will swim 100 yards, bike 2.9 miles, and run 1 mile.
