Friends of Fort Trumbull host O’Neill discussion

Robert Richter will continue The Friends of Fort Trumbull's presentation of "The Whaling City and the Sea" with a discussion of playwright Eugene O'Neill, one of New London's most famous residents. The talk starts at 7 p.m. on July 31 in the Fort Trumbull Conference Center, 90 Walbach St., New London.

Richter, a graduate of Connecticut College, is the director of arts programming at the college. He has written several books on O'Neill, including 2001's "Touring Eugene O'Neill's New London," a guide that introduced area residents and visitors to the local places connected with O'Neill's life. Another book, "Eugene O'Neill and Dat Ole Davil Sea," was a finalist for the 2005 Connecticut Book Award.

The public is invited, but seating is limited. For more information, visit fortfriends.org.
