    Garde starts summer film series

With its new digital projection and surround sound systems all in place, the Garde Arts Center is unrolling a schedule of films.

This late-summer series begins Friday with "Ida," a well-reviewed Polish film about a 1960s novitiate nun's discovery of a family secret that goes back to the country's Nazi occupation.

Saturday features "Under the Skin," starring Scarlett Johansson as a woman - maybe an alien? - who lures men into an otherworldly lair.

On Sunday, the fabulous Irish dark comedy "The Guard" plays. Brendan Gleeson is an Irish policeman, Don Cheadle is an FBI agent, and they make a hugely entertaining odd couple as they investigate murder and drug trafficking.

Among the other movies coming: "Life Itself," a documentary about Roger Ebert, on Aug. 15 and 16; "Snowpiercer," a futuristic thriller starring Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton, on Aug. 8; "The Trip to Italy," which sends comic pals Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon on a titular trip to Italy, in mid-September; and oldies but goodies like "Jaws" on Aug. 10 and "Blazing Saddles" on Aug. 24.
