Connecticut Sun need to make a move ... and fast

Time is running out on the Connecticut Sun. Oh, Connecticut is still alive in an Eastern Conference playoff race that's as toothless as an infant, but it needs to snap out of its funk, and fast, having lost 11 of its last 13 games.

The Sun play at San Antonio tonight at the AT&T Center (8, CPTV Sports).

Connecticut (10-17) is last in the East, a game and a half behind fourth-place New York. The top four teams in each conference make the postseason.

The Sun have seven regular-season games left to make up ground, including a game at New York next Friday. The Liberty have eight games left.

Connecticut continues to be plagued by poor shooting. It has a WNBA-worst .414 field goal percentage, compounded by the league's fourth-worst defensive field goal percentage (.455).

All-Star Katie Douglas (13 ppg) is Connecticut's best shooter, but has shot 28 percent the previous three games. The reliable Alex Bentley (11.6) has missed 19 of 25 shots over the past two games.

Rookie Chiney Ogwumike has averaged a team-high 15.3 points and 8.3 rebounds for the Sun.

San Antonio (13-14) is third in the West. It's been led by All-Star Danielle Robinson (13.6 ppg, 5.3 apg, 1.74 spg) and rookie Kayla McBride (12.6).
