Nowhere in Marilyn Stokstad's and Michael Cothren's definitive "Art History" textbook does it suggest that a "kitchen sink" is an acceptable component in a mixed media presentation. And yet, given the wild collective imagination of an organization called Syntax Mixed Media Artists, viewers will probably see everything including the proverbial kitchen sink in the group's new exhibition called "Eight @ Six Summit."

The show opens with a reception from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the Six Summit Gallery in Ivoryton. Participating members are Anne Doris-Eisner, Jean Swanson, Karen Larocque, Regina S. Levin, Jan McLean, Kelly Taylor, Diane Ward and Gretchen Wohlgemuth. It runs through Sept. 1.
