Virginia champions beat Waterford 9-3 in Babe Ruth (13) World Series

Glen Allen, Va. — Waterford’s chances of advancing out of pool play ended on Tuesday afternoon when Virginia state champion Gainesville-Haymarket beat the New England champions 9-3 in the Babe Ruth Baseball 13-year-old World Series.

Waterford, 0-3 in the American Division, plays its final game of the World Series on Wednesday against Glacier (Montana) at 10 a.m. Glacier is also winless in three games.

Waterford needed to beat Gainesville-Haymarket (3-0) and then get some help in order to reach the single-elimination phase of the tournament, which begins on Thursday.
