Salem school board seeks to fill vacant seat

Salem -- The Board of Education is seeking to fill the vacant seat of Democrat Margaret Caron, who resigned from the school board earlier this month. The appointment will be to fill the rest of Caron’s term, ending in November 2015.

Applicants can be members of any party or unaffiliated. The seat does not have to be filled by a Democrat.

Anyone interested in serving on the school board may complete an application and submit a letter of interest to Superintendent Joseph Onofrio II by 3:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Interviews will be held at 6 p.m. on Sept. 8 in the Salem School Media Center.

Board of Education meetings are held on the first Monday of each month in the media center. Subcommittee meetings are held monthly on various dates.

Interested applicants are invited to attend the upcoming school board retreat.

Applications are available at www.salemschools.org or in the superintendent’s Office at Salem School. For more information, contact Jennifer Kayser at (860) 892-1223 extension 3201.
