Scott's dock in New London. Strickland caught the tuna Tuesday about 88 miles from New London at the continental shelf off the coast of Montauk, N.Y. The crew figured the fish, which was 72 inches long and 54 inches around, would weigh approximately 280 pounds, an estimate because no suitable scale was available. The crew said it took Strickland two hours and 20 minutes to reel the fish into the boat.
