    Yanni plays Foxwoods

In 2003, I attended a sold-out three-hour concert by Greek composer Yanni and afterwards wrote of the experience in this newspaper: "I felt like one of those maple-glazed hams corporate executives hand out as holiday bonuses."

    Hey, people LOVE ham.

Well, it's over a decade later and the Y-Man, whose trademark haircut has been modified and stripped of many of its buffalo-mane qualities, is still going strong. For the past few years, he's been reimagining his catalog by having a variety of vocalists record newly penned lyrics over previously instrumental favorites.

Yanni's latest album, for example, titled "Inspirato," boasts such elite singers as Plácido Domingo, Renée Fleming, Katherine Jenkins - no, not my niece - Vittorio Grigolo, Micaëla Oeste and Chloe Lowery. Yanni is on the road behind the release and appears Friday in Foxwoods' Grand Theater. For the tour, he's traveling with a 16-piece orchestra and two vocalists. And, yes, the set list will span a career in which he's sold over 40 million albums.

    Yanni, 8 p.m. Friday, Grand Theater, Foxwoods Resort Casino; $65, $85; 1-800-200-2882.
