Waterford, East Lyme soccer to play doubleheader Thursday for ALS

The Ninth Annual ALS Soccer Cup games will be Thursday night at East Lyme High School. Waterford and East Lyme will play a boys' (5 p.m.) and girls' (7 p.m.) doubleheader to benefit families affected by ALS, a neurodegenerative disorder that paralyzes the body.

The ALS Soccer Cup originated in Massachusetts in 2002 and came to Connecticut in 2006, featuring several programs throughout the region. All proceeds from the event are donated to either support research and development in finding a cure against ALS or to local families who can use financial assistance in their battle against ALS.

Several raffles are planned throughout the night. All donations should be made payable to: ALS Soccer Cup Inc., P.O. Box 188, New London, CT 06320.
