Benefit concert for drummer Bob Burt

This is a clarion call for HELP. Local drummer Bob Burt - well known as a member of Johnny & the East Coast Rockers and Raise the Rent, and much-loved and respected by his many percussion students - is going through a slow and tough recovery following a Type B Aortic Dissection. It's an extremely rare and very dangerous event when there's a tear in the inner wall of the aorta - and 40 percent of victims don't live to make it to the hospital.

Burt not only survived but is valiantly fighting forward. Medical and family expenses are enormous, though.

On Sunday afternoon, a Rock On Bob Burt! concert and raffle takes place in Westerly's Knickerbocker Café. Artists such as The Hoolios, The Wild Cats and, yes, Johnny & the East Coast Rockers will perform for the cause, and there will be all sorts of merch, raffle items and food and beverage options. Proceeds go directly to help Burt with care and recovery. All ages are welcome and any help is much appreciated, Burt is a great drummer, an inspiring teacher and an all-around tremendous friend and family man.
