    Local roundup: Holubecki wins it for Ledyard in double OT

    Ledyard - Olivia Holubecki scored off a corner kick in the 96th minute as Ledyard rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Plainfield 3-2 in double overtime in a nonleague girls' soccer game on Thursday night.

    Kelly Lamb got Ledyard (2-0) on the scoreboard with six minutes left in the first half and Stephanie Vetrano tied the game 28 minutes into the second half. Carley Loy and Holubecki had assists.

    In other games:

    • Mia Londregan scored both goals as St. Bernard opened its season with a 2-0 win over Wheeler in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division. Kara Bassett assisted on both goals.

    • Cassidy Marshall scored two unassisted goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half, lifting Norwich Free Academy past New London, 2-0. Goalie Rosa Conte made three saves to earn the shutout for the Wildcats (1-0-1). Felicia Timpano had six saves for the Whalers (0-2).

    H.S. boys' soccer

    • Colby Coombs scored two goals to power NFA past New London, 5-0. Matthew Sylvestre, Bryce Capunitan and Mohammad Nejad also scored for the Wildcats (1-0) and goalie Seth Strader had five saves. New London is 0-2.

    • Josh Handler scored the game's only goal in the first half, lifting Montville past Woodstock, 1-0. Conor Hanlon had five saves for the Indians (2-0).

    Women's soccer

    • Coast Guard received goals from three different players in a 3-1 win over Nichols. Caroline Eastman scored the go-ahead goal off an assist from Sarah Hills at the 73:02 mark, breaking a 1-1 tie. Alyssa Sato added a late unassisted goal for the Bears (3-1). Lindsay Duplessis opened the scoring by converting a penalty kick late in the first half for her first goal of the season. The Bears held a 22-13 edge in shots and goalie Holly Moore made four saves.

    H.S. volleyball

    • Grasso Tech swept Vinal Tech in the Constitution State Conference, 25-14, 25-14, 25-7. Nicole Mallette Ferrance had 12 points and five kills, Keila Lastraglio had 10 points, three kills and five aces, Kiera Sebastian had five points, three digs and two blocks and Magda Martinez had three kills and three digs for Grasso (1-1, 1-0).

    • Ledyard opened its season with a 25-13, 25-12, 25-15 win over Windham on Wednesday. Jenny Nohara had 27 assists for Ledyard.

    H.S. cross country

    • Williams School opened its season on Wednesday at the Chase Collegiate Invitational in Waterbury. The boys' team finished third and the girls' team placed fourth. Justin Shafner of Williams won the boys' race in 17:58 and freshman teammate Will Jarrett was sixth at 19:49. Making the top 10 in girls' race from Williams were Maddy Lahm (fifth, 22:52), Hattie Grant (8th, 24:31) and Sofia diTommaso (10th, 24:34).
