    Old Burying Grounds and Gravestones

Have you ever looked at a gravestone and wondered; what am I looking at? Where are the boundaries? What’s missing? Who carved these early grave markers? Then join the Westbrook Historical Society for a FREE program; Old Burying Grounds and Gravestones with Ruth Brown from The Connecticut Gravestone Network! Sunday, October 5th, 1:00 pm, at the Westbrook Historical Society Museum on the Green, 1196 Boston Post Road, Westbrook CT 06498. At this program you will learn how to read illegible inscriptions and safely clean colonial stones (with before and after photos). All things that every family genealogist and historian, with an interest in old cemeteries should know. Bring your curiosity and questions to this fun talk and walk about the history of gravestones of Westbrook. You will not look at an old burying ground the same after this presentation. Presented by the Westbrook Historical Society, for more information please visit our website www.westbrookhistory.org.
