UPDATED: Two men shot in New London Sunday morning

New London — Two gunshot victims who sustained non-life-threatening injuries in shootings that occurred near Montauk Avenue and Faire Harbour Place this morning are being treated at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, city police said.

The first of the victims, a 31-year-old male, walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound at about 6 this morning, police said. A second male, also with a gunshot wound, arrived at the hospital about 30 minutes later.

Lawrence + Memorial’s emergency room was locked down for a time, Michael O’Farrell, a hospital spokesman, said. In such cases, he said, access to the emergency room is limited to hospital personnel and patients.

O’Farrell said he could not provide the condition of the shooting victims or say whether they had been admitted to the hospital. Police have not released the victims’ names.

A preliminary investigation determined that the shootings are related.

Police ask that anyone with information call 860-447-1481 or 860-442-4444. All calls will be kept confidential.
