Pet adoptions can save many animals

I'm always seeing advertisements for adoption events for both dogs and cats. There are so many older animals that are looking for homes. The breeders are continuing to breed puppies, and are making a lot of money from this lucrative business, sometimes charging $1,000 or more for a puppy.

Puppies are a lot of work and a tremendous amount of patience is needed with them. They get into everything, and need a lot of attention. That's how I ended up with one of my dogs, Bub. He was a playful puppy, and the family did not have the patience for him any longer. They just stuck him in a crate, and left him alone most of the time.

People think it's fashionable to have a certain breed of puppy. Puppies are living creatures, it's not like getting a certain name brand handbag. It's just not right, not when there are still so many dogs and cats being destroyed because homes aren't available for them. At least the pet store practice of selling animals has mostly ended.

Now to do something about the selfish breeding practice. Before you adopt a puppy, visit an animal shelter. Hopefully, that will change your mind.
