Where's the magic in "Magic in the Moonlight"?

Couldn't the combined charm of Colin Firth, Emma Stone, and Hamish Linklater save any movie? Apparently not. Woody Allen's latest is a leaden plod through a would-be romantic comedy about a magician (Firth) out to prove a psychic (Stone) is a fraud. Linklater, who was epically hilarious as the brother on "Old Christine," plays Stone's wealthy, ukelele-playing suitor. The movie is set on the southern coast of France in the 1920s, which provides plenty of eye candy. Yet, the script is so clunkily written and the earnest Stone is so miscast in a role that called for, say, a sly Amy Adams that, well, this movie ain't "Magic."
