Simon & Garfunkel tribute at Friday Night Folk

    Ron Gletherow, Mike Bailey

One of the things about having a music catalog as deep and consistently magnificent as Simon & Garfunkel's is that any tribute show becomes ridiculously subjective.

Sure, there are the songs that MUST be included, and we know what they are. And this doesn't even get into the great songs from their respective solo careers!

It'll be fun, then, to see what deep tracks are trotted out Friday when Mike Bailey and Ron Gletherow of Maggie's Guitar present "Sound of Silence - a Simon & Garfunkel Tribute." The show is the first of the fall season for the Friday Night Folk concert series, taking place as always in Unity Hall at New London's All Souls Unitarian Universalist Congregation.

Gletherow and Bailey will have big-time musical assistance from Aidan, Duncan and Ian Maxwell, siblings best known from the fine local pop act Madison Red.

(For the record and from a personal standpoint, methinks it's certainly okay if they choose NOT to incorporate that goofy "Feelin' Groovy" tune into the proceedings.)
