Remains of WWII flier back home, buried with honors

Members of the Montana Army National Guard honor guard carry the coffin of Army Air Forces 1st Lt. William Bernier to be buried Friday in the Augusta, Mont., Cemetery with full military honors. Bernier was a 25-year-old bombardier on a B-24D Liberator bomber that went down in 1944 after being hit by anti-aircraft fire over Papua New Guinea. His remains were identified by comparing DNA found at the crash site with DNA from relatives.
