Norwich City Historian Dale Plummer will take the audience on a journey of local involvement in the Underground Railroad at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Waterford Public Library. Several towns in Connecticut offered refuge to men and women fleeing slave-holding states in the 19th century.
Plummer will explain how the railroad network worked and debunk some of the myths that have grown around it. A question-and-answer period will follow the free presentation.
The library is located at 49 Rope Ferry Road and can be reached at (860) 444-5805.
