    Local college roundup: UConn rallies past Lafayette in field hockey

    Easton, Pa. - No. 5 UConn rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat Lafayette 2-1 in a nonleague field hockey match Sunday.

    Sophie Bowden pulled UConn even at 44:44 and Roisin Upton, who assisted on Bowden's goal, gave the Huskies the lead at 54:30. Olivia Bolles and Chrissy Davidson had assists and Nina Klein made three saves for UConn (6-0).

    Men's soccer

    • Springfield College broke up a scoreless tie with four second-half goals and beat Mitchell College 4-0 in a nonleague game. Ryan Malone had a goal and an assist and Drew Sommers had two assists for Springfield (3-1-3). Ramazan Sinani (nine) and Anthony Drake combined for 11 saves for Mitchell (3-3-1).

    Women's soccer

    • UConn scored twice in the first half and held on to beat Brown 2-0 in a nonleague game. Samantha McGuire and Julie Hubbard scored the goals and Rachel Hill and Andrea Plucenik had assists for the Huskies (7-2-1).

    Sailing

    • Connecticut College finished ninth out of 18 teams at the Hatch Brown Trophy Regatta in Boston. The Camels had 459 points, with Yale winning at 277. Conn's Bryce Kopp, Alex Giordano, Kim Bolick and Ben Meyers were ninth in the A division with 150 points, Jordan Bothwick and Lea Bushnell were ninth ninth in the B division with 158 and Hugh MacGillivray and Tori Allen were ninth in the C division with 151.

    Coast Guard won the 18-team Mrs. Hurst Trophy Regatta hosted by Dartmouth College on Lake Mascoma. The Bears had 205 points and Conn College was 11th with 381. For Conn, Liz Dubovik and Alix Israel were 16th in the A division with 217 points and Alex Romagnoli, Rebecca Quirke, Serena Cipullo and Eliza Garry were ninth in the B division with 164.

    Men's water polo

    • Connecticut College lost to St. Francis College of New York, 22-6. Henry McMillan led Conn (0-5) with three goals.

    Women's tennis

    • Connecticut College sophomores Jillian Brigandi and Ellie Rudd won two matches each at the Vassar College Scramble. Charlotte Marcoux and Aleksandra Drljaca also won matches for the Camels.
