Mohegan Holding Co. opens new locations

The Mohegan Tribe has opened two more restaurant franchises in southern New England as well as a Connecticut showroom and sales office for its digital printing company.

The ventures are being pursued by the Mohegan Holding Co., the tribe’s nongaming business arm.

On Tuesday, the tribe opened an Arooga’s Grille House and Sports Bar in Warwick, R.I., the second of 15 such franchises it plans to open in New England. The tribe opened its first Arooga’s about a year ago on reservation land off Route 32 in Montville.

The more than 7,000-square-foot Warwick facility features more than 100 TV screens, outdoor dining and 40 beers on tap. It is expected to create 75 to 100 new jobs.

Arooga’s, based in Harrisburg, Pa., opened its first restaurant in 2008 and signed its first franchising deal with the Mohegans in 2014. It has since reached deals for nearly 100 additional locations across the country.

Earlier in the month, the tribe opened a Jersey Mike’s Subs shop in Marlborough, Mass., its fourth Jersey Mike’s franchise and first outside Connecticut.

Mohegan-owned Jersey Mike’s are operating in Meriden and Norwich and at Mohegan Sun, the tribe’s flagship casino. Plans call for 10 additional locations in Connecticut, Rhode Island and southern Worcester County in Massachusetts.

KÔTA Solutions, a joint venture of Mohegan Holding and Leslie Digital Imaging, has recently opened a facility in Shelton.

The 4,200-square-foot showroom and sales office enables the company to showcase the print and copy devices and software it sells at a location conveniently located off Interstate 95, the Merritt Parkway and Route 8, just north of Milford.
