Mashantucket — Foxwoods Resort Casino experienced a 10 percent decline in slot-machine revenue last month, the Mashantucket Pequot-owned casino announced Tuesday in a news release.

The casino reported that it kept $34.4 million in slots revenue after paying out prizes in October, 10 percent less than it kept in October 2017.

The year-over-year decrease follows a 5 percent decline in Foxwoods’ slots revenue in September. Mohegan Sun, which is not expected to release its October slots report until later this week, had reported a nearly 9 percent decline in its September slots revenue.

It’s not clear the extent to which the declines reflect the competitive impact of MGM Springfield, the nearly $1 billion resort casino that opened in late August in western Massachusetts, a few miles north of the Connecticut border.

MGM Springfield kept $18.1 million in slots revenue in September, its first full month of operation. Mohegan Sun kept $47.2 million in slots revenue in September; Foxwoods kept $38 million.
