Color on the walls of the Lyman Allyn Art Museum

It isn’t every day that you can get away with coloring on a wall, much less coloring on the walls of a museum. But at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum, over the next month, you’ll be able to do just that. In its interactive exhibit “Coloring New London,” the museum has covered the walls of one of its galleries with gigantic “coloring book pages” — scenes drawn from historic New London postcards and paintings featured throughout the museum’s permanent collection. With boxes of crayons available, you can, with family or friends, shade in, say, a snapshot from Ocean Beach in 1910, or State Street in the early 20th century, among other recognizable locations. The show will run through Jan. 21. The museum is at 625 Williams St., New London. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues.-Sat., 1-5 p.m. Sun. Admission is $10 adults, $7 seniors and students (over 18), $5 students under 18, $7 active military personnel, and free for children under 12; (860) 443-2545, www.lymanallyn.org.
