    Food Tip: Mezza Mediterranean Grill

You’ve probably heard about Mystic’s Middle Eastern eatery, The Pita Place, recently renamed Mezza Mediterranean Grill. I ventured over there Saturday night, with the craving for falafel and hummus, both personal favorites that I haven’t had a chance to eat, well, since I was living in Berlin (which has been over a year now). Surprisingly, Berlin has a wide array of Middle Eastern-eateries and markets, all of which were delicious and cheap — so suffice it to say, I was pleasantly surprised when Mezza’s hummus, baba ganoush, and falafel blew me away. By far, it’s the best I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to go again. Unfortunately, for those slight on cash such as myself, the trip will be more for special occasions than a regular haunt. Just so you have an idea about their exorbitantly priced menu (at least in my opinion), their 5-appetizer tasting plate — which includes a scoop of hummus, a scoop of baba ganoush, a scoop of tabbouleh, two grape leaves and two falafel balls — was an astounding $15. And three Kaftka meatballs on a skewer cost $8. The incredible flavors make up for it though.
