So why am I getting phone calls, Facebook messages and texts asking me to write a letter to the editor about these new street lights in our city? As I walk down my stairs into the living room − if that's not spooky enough − I look out the window and, yes, I agree with my neighbors, friends and family, it looks like a scene from "The Night of the Living Dead!"

Some streets (I'm told) are too bright and other streets that are known to be problem crime areas have these weak LED lights. I'm all for saving a dollar, but really?

It's my understanding the city has heard from several upset citizens. To be fair, let's give city officials a fair amount of time to correct their mistake. So to the people who reached out to me − like I have some kind of power (yes, I am a community activist, an events planner/organizer and a fundraiser) − I cannot do anything about the lights.

So to respond to those calls, messages and texts about the lighting problem, I wrote this letter to the editor.
